        Meow Spoken Here

We are pleased to introduce to you another of Acinny's FurKids, *BOB* (Big Ol' Brat)! BOB was a stray...an unwanted, unloved kitty boy...and here is his story.

We had no choice in "picking" BOB, he picked us. We had just arrived home from a sunny summer day of running errands, June 23, 1998 to be exact, and walked into our front courtyard to find a very tired, dirty, thirsty, straved black and white "kitten" laying by our front door. At first we thought he was dead but he lifted his head and let out a very feeble "mew".

Needless to say packages were dropped and he was gently pickup and cuddled. He was nothing more than a "cat suit on a bag of bones", covered in fleas, and eyes running something fierce. First things first, some water and food were in order for this poor waif and boy was he hungry. He ate & ate & ate & ate an entire can of kitten food and half a bowl of crunchies! Then he went to work on the water and drank for what seemed to be an eternity! When he had eaten and drunk his fill he climbed into Acinny's lap for a cuddle and a nap.

While he was sleeping, Acinny did a quick "flea management" and cleaned up his runny eyes. A gender check was also in order and it was revealed that he was a neutered male. Now, where had he come from?? Why was he so incredibly skinny?? He was neutered...he had to have belonged to someone??!!

After spending the night on our front porch swing it was time for a trip to the vet's to find out why BOB's eyes were so runny. Luckily it was just a touch of feline pneumonitis and would be easy to clear up with some chloramphenicol. The vet indicated, by a tooth exam, that BOB was not a kitten but rather about a year old and that his extreme thinness and small size could be caused by worms so BOB was also wormed. Acinny left found posters at the vet's office and on every street sign and post along the way in the hopes someone would claim him. A found as was also posted in the local paper but....

It has been almost two years now and BOB has moved right in and established himself as a FurKid. No one has ever come forward to claim him so it looks like he will be staying for life.

BOB is loved by and loves everyone although he is a bit hand shy and doesn't like to be petted. He is also very stubborn about getting his medications...thus the name Big Ol' Brat or BOB!! He and Levi have established the "Butt Brothers Gang" and delight in a fierce game of "tag team wrestling" on and under Acinny's bed in the wee hours of the morning. They also have become the "Best Bug Hunters" know to man with neary a spider, moth, or fly are safe from their swift claws.

Oh well, what's one more FurKid in such a loving pack...nothing but fun...that's what!! Glad you're here BOB!!

        STRAY CAT

Oh, what unhappy twist of fate
Has brought you homeless to my gate?
The gate where once another stood
To beg for shelter, warmth, and food
For from that day I ceased to be
        The master of my destiny.

While he, with purr and velvet paw
Became within my house the law.
He scratched the furniture and shed
And claimed the middle of my bed.

He ruled in arrogance and pride
And broke my heart the day he died.
So if you really think, oh Cat,
        I’d willingly relive all that
Because you come forlorn and thin
Well...don’t just stand there...Come on in!
